Mr. Bean

Mr. Bean is a humorous, realistic story about Jack who gets his dream pet and names him Mr. Bean.  Together they win the Dog and Owner Lookalike Competition with a very clever idea.  The book concludes with an entry form for the competition.  The story is told in dialogue and simple narrative.

The text is composed of a variety of sentence types.  Humorous illustrations match the text directly and add meaning.  Speech balloons appear in art.  Quotation marks are used in dialogue.  Exclamation marks are used for emphasis. 

Some vocabulary may require clarification: chart, designer dogs, cutest, dachshund, notice, annual, and competition.  The contractions didn’t, I’m, he’s, that’s, and Jack’s are used.
