Goal!

Goal! is a short story about a boy who tries out for a soccer team while wearing his uncle’s magic soccer boots. The book also discusses text connections, planning a short story, and features of a short story. 

The story is told in the first person.  A variety of sentence types is used.  Illustrations support and enhance the text. Text boxes call attention to literary features such as imagery, similes, and metaphors, and prompt the use of comprehension strategies, such as predicting and questioning.
