Go Away

Go Away is a nonfiction text that identifies the kinds of animals that frighten other animals. The sentences “Here is the _____” and “Go away!” are repeated throughout the book.

The picture of each animal is presented on a two-page spread which includes a labelled, close-up image of each animal when it is calm. Explosive, visual graphics draw students’ attention to a picture of each animal when it is trying to frighten another animal.

Interest words include fish, porcupine, and octopus. The text is composed of a few high-frequency words such as here. The initial consonant b appears in big and bird. An index is located at the end of the book and includes each animal and their corresponding page numbers.
