Fiction Readers: Red Goes Green

Red Goes Green is a humorous story about a little boy named Red who doesn’t like to eat his vegetables. However, after eating a great tasting cereal with the nutrients of vegetables, it turns his skin green and gives him superpowers.

The story unfolds in first-person narrative following a single plot line.  The format is beginning chapter book with illustrations that support and enhance the text. 

Red Goes Green uses several sentences that begin with subordinate clauses, phrases, or transitional words. The text uses a wide variety of punctuation (period, comma, quotation marks, question marks, and exclamation points). A lot of dialogue is presented within the text in a variety of ways, including dialogue from multiple characters and unassigned dialogue.
