Felix and His Flying Machine is a humorous story about a boy named Felix who always has big ideas. His parents and teacher discourage him from following through with his inventions until one day they need one of his ideas to get them to safety.   

The story unfolds chronologically in third-person narrative following a single plot line.  The format is beginning chapter book with illustrations that support and enhance the text. 

Felix and His Flying Machine has several sentences that begin with subordinate clauses, phrases, or transitional words. The text uses some simple adjectives and descriptive language with a wide variety of punctuation (period, comma, quotation marks, question marks, and exclamation points). A lot of dialogue is presented within the text in a variety of ways, including dialogue from multiple characters and unassigned dialogue.
