Fat Ducks is a realistic story about people on a street who feed the ducks too much food. The ducks grow larger and larger and the community comes up with a plan to help the ducks get smaller. They decide to create a roster that tells everyone what day they will feed the ducks. On Saturday and Sunday, the ducks are expected to feed themselves. Dialogue with simple questioning is used among characters.

Illustrations add meaning and interest. Address signs are shown throughout.

Adjectives appear. To conclude, the street’s completed roster is shown. In addition, simple activities that include oral, written, and visual communication are presented in the Teacher’s Guide Notes.
