Extreme Journeys

Extreme Journeys is an informational report on the explorers, scientists, and athletes who brave harsh environments, from deep ocean to high mountains to hot deserts to outer space.  For each environment, the conditions, training, hazards, and equipment are detailed.  The style is informative and conversational. 

The book has a contents and is divided into seven sections.  Section headings are used.  The text is composed of a variety of sentence types.  Labelled and captioned photographs support the text and add meaning.  Vocabulary boxes define terminology in context. A key points chart shows the structure and main ideas of the book.  An index is provided.  The book concludes with a two-page spread that provides the characteristics of informational reports.
