Dangerous Jobs

Dangerous Jobs is an expository text that profiles a variety of high-risk jobs, such as fire fighting, demolition, rescue work, stunt work, and wild animal training.  The style is informative and conversational.

The text is composed of a variety of sentence types, including sentences with dependent clauses and compound sentences.  Multiple photographs per page, often with captions, support the text.  A sequence of photographs is used to show the process of demotion.  A colon is used to introduce a list.  An apostrophe is used in a contraction. The book concludes with a visual summary and an index.

Some words, such as dynamite, parachute, and stunt may require clarification.  A number of words are used in both singular and plural.  Several homonym pairs appear: there/their through/threw, where/wear.
