Chameleons
Chameleons is an expository text that invites readers to learn about a chameleon’s body, their food, their homes, and their young.
Photographs are labeled. There are some captions beneath pictures that provide important information. A set of three images shows a chameleon catching an insect with its tongue. An index is provided.
Interest words include chameleon, horns, stripes, and desert. Some adjectives are used in sentences. Some compound sentences are joined by conjunctions. In the Teacher’s Guide notes, an activity that asks children to compare one characteristic of a chameleon to another animal is presented.
