Celebrate Canada: Bush Pilots (Gr 2)

Bush Pilots is the retell of an Inuit named Michael who grew up in Nunavut.  Michael relates the stories of several bush pilots he knew and tells about the time his mother Kukik spent a whole day sewing to repair the cloth cover on a plane.  The style is conversational and informative.

Mostly simple sentences are used.  A Contents lists the six sections in the book.  The text is supported directly by a map, headings, and captioned and labelled photographs.

Interest words include propeller, pontoons, ice floes, and lodge.  The verbs pretended, flew, landed, taught, and played are used.  The adjectives real, rough, rocky, and muddy are used.
