A Roach on the Fridge

A Roach on the Fridge is a humorous, fictional text about a young girl’s mom who finds a cockroach in their kitchen. After Mom scrubs the entire house to rid it of roaches, she discovers that her son placed a fake cockroach magnet on the fridge and her house is not infested.

Illustrations enhance and extend the meaning of the text. Illustrative text is used throughout.

Adjectives, pronouns, and similes are found in the text. A double consonant after a short vowel appears in grabbed, mopped, and scrubbed. To conclude, a two-page spread presents explains what a recount is and invites students to take part in recounting the story.
